Paradigm shift sees U.S. Army Corps of Engineers consider NBS on par with grey infrastructure
Despite a long history of implementing conventional engineering practices, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began an Engineering with Nature (EWN) initiative in 2010, "saying it now aspired to work with nature rather than dominate it," and in 2025, announced a new rule that NBS are to be given equal consideration to grey engineering solutions wherever feasible. This paradigm shift aligns with the increasing recognition of the efficacy and necessity of NBS in mitigating risks associated with flooding and drought. Read the whole article here.
